Pearl GTL (Shell)

 

The Client

Shell is a worldwide group of oil, gas and petrochemical companies with interests in biofuels, wind and solar power and hydrogen.

The Pearl GTL project comprises the development of upstream gas production facilities as well as an onshore GTL plant that will produce 140,000 barrels per day (bpd) of GTL products as well as approximately 120,000 bpd of associated condensate and liquefied petroleum gas.

VWS' Solutions

Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies will provide through its subsidiaries VW STI, Rossmark, and HPD:

  • An Effluent Treatment Plant
  • Treatment of the cooling tower blow-down for reuse in the process
  • Optimization of water cycle management and a Zero-Liquid Discharge target

Project scope:

Project Management, Interface management with EPC contractors, Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management, Construction, System testing, Commissioning, Preparation for RFSU (Ready for Start-up), performance testing, Assistance during start-up Design and build contract for an effluent treatment plant at its Pearl GTL complex to a consortium comprising a 50/50 joint venture between Veolia Water and Saïpem and the local building contractor Al Jaber.

Solutions & Technologies

Technologies and Solutions will include:

  • Ultrafiltration
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • Actiflo: full recycling into the factory process, without any discharge of liquid effluents into the natural environment.
  • Sludge treatment using evaporation and crystallization processes which allow low volume production of dewatered sludge and salt crystals.
