BP Lavéra - France

BP Lavéra, located in Martigues near to the pond of Berre in France, is a refinery with a crude oil refining capacity of 10 million tons/year. It employs 500 employees. BP Lavéra obtained ISO 14001 certification.

The strong will to develop the environmental respect to improve the performance of its waste water treatment plant and to optimise its operational cost.

The customer was looking for a partnership to operate and maintain its water utility perimeter, bringing a strong expertise on the industrial processes, the implementation of a preventive maintenance and the investment for a better operation.

A strong partnership was developed between BP Lavéra and Veolia Water, based on:

• A committee of control in charge of the coordination contract.
• A technical committee BP Lavéra/Veolia Water in the refinery.
• An improvement plan with progressive objectives.

Veolia Water proposed an agreement including 2 steps:

• The first phase, optimising the factory; second phase consists of an investment program which aims to improve the quality of effluents.
• A safety program that best fits with all the requirements defined by the refinery.
